The Women’s Guild in Oman (WGO) hosted its end of year luncheon at Crowne Plaza Muscat on Wednesday and marked 40 years of its presence in Oman.
The celebrations included a cake-cutting ceremony, fruit and vegetable carving classes, and a raffle draw for members.
Since its inauguration on April 3, 1973, WGO has grown in size to over 2,000 members from 92 nationalities.
“We are certainly excited because it is the 40th birthday of WGO. On this special occasion we wanted Eloise Bosch, the founding member to be the guest of honour but she could not make it as she was unwell. I would also like to thank our patron Sarah Bowden, who has always been a great support for all our events,” said Judith Dodson, the current president of WGO.
Sally Sleep, a former WGO president said, “It is amazing from when we started in 1973 with 13 members and now we have a family of 2,200 members.”
