Women’s Guild in Oman (WGO) has donated a bus to Dar al Atta’a for a mobile library for children, in support of the latter’s Let’s Read campaign.

The donation was made at an event held at the Al Hashar Group of Companies’ Tata showroom. The bus has been modified with shelves to accommodate books. Jane Jaffer, the Let’s Read campaign leader said, “Following this very generous donation from WGO we will now be able to set up a mobile library, which will be called Maktabati (my library).”

The bus is expected to tour towns and villages giving children access to good books and the opportunity to develop a love for reading.

Sunaina Serna Ahluwalia, publicity manager of WGO, said, “The funds were raised at WGO’s Crystal Ball held in December 2012. We hope that this will go a long way in encouraging and developing the habit of reading in Oman.”
