23 April was a cause for celebration as the WGO President, Judith Dodson and WGO Vice-President and News Coordinator Cherie Gooding accepted the Silver Award at the 7th Annual Oman Web Awards for the WGO website.
The WGO website had been entered in the category of NGO/NPO, along with Jusoor, Municipal Council, Oman Aids, Safety First Oman and The National Association for Cancer Awareness. This was a very special evening for the WGO as two years ago we went ahead with a rebrand of our image starting with our logo, newsletter and website. To be acknowledged is this way is the icing on the cake. The rebrand started with the 2010-11 Committee who wanted to change the image of the Guild and bring in new blood. This change has continued over the last two years with new events and new members.
Outgoing President, Sally Sleep was also in attendance to present a number of awards.
About The Oman Web Awards
The Oman Web Awards was first introduced by the Pan Arab Web Awards Academy with the objective of promoting the spirit of innovation and creativity within the digital economy of Oman. The main idea of having such an award ceremony is to serve as inspiration and at the same time reward creators for their skills so that they continue to excel and meet all professional and international standards within the entire Gulf region. This prestigious event is aimed at setting new standards to the web industry in Oman which in turn will benefit web designers with the latest developments in the field.
Thank you
Of course this would not be possible without the support of our members, and we would like to thank everyone involved which lead us to the Silver Award.
