The WGO donated money to the cardiac unit at Royal Hospital recently, which they used to buy a Transesophageal Echocardiogram or a TEE Probe. It is a small camera that is put down the esophagus for Doctors to get a good internal view of the heart. It gives a clearer view of the heart rather than the normal transthoracic echocardiogram as the sound waves do not have to pass through skin, muscle, or bone tissue.

With money left over, the Pediatric Heart specialist Dr Taha Adelamie purchased a TV for the children’s cardiology ward, to entertain kids recovering from surgery. A new laptop was also purchased for the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) staff, for use in training and professional development. The team were very grateful for the donation and were excited about using the new equipment to help care for young Omani’s suffering from heart problems.
