Welcome Back Brunch
Come September and WGO team is always buzzing with queries like “When I can get my renewed WGO card?” or “My friend would like to join? Where can she sign up? Or “Who are the new Business Partners this year?” and more! Well, this year was no different! The month was throbbing with renewals and new member sign ups followed by the customary Welcome Back Brunch at The Hormuz Grand Hotel, recently announced as a new member of the luxury Quorvus Collection by Carlson Rezidor.
The Brunch session was honoured with the presence of Nabil al Busaidi, the First Arab Adventurer to walk from the Resolute Bay to the magnetic North Pole, climb Mount Vinson (highest mountain) in Antarctica and row across the Atlantic Ocean. He has also climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa. Also, a Fellow of the Royal Geographic Society, he had been voted as one of the Top 100 Most Influential Arabs in the world by Arabian Business magazine in2009, Top Influential Arabs by Middle East magazine in 2009 and 2011 and remains in the Top 500 Power List in 2011. A documentary about his trek to the magnetic North Pole was directed by two-time Emmy Award winning director, David Ward!
Nabil inspired the audience with his innumerable tales of survival and human endurance. The Arab who ‘took on the Artic’ captureed his adventurous expeditions in detail. Those present for this session were lucky to get his biography, personally signed and some selfies too! Read more on his adventures @ www.arabadventurer.com
What followed was a delightful brunch, along with some WGO partners including Crafty Kitchen presenting their concept of Food, Art and Healthy Living!
Thank you all for making WGO a very successful ‘women’s fellowship’ in Oman.
We look forward to a varied and interesting programme of activities and events to share with members in the year ahead.
