‘Making friends and raising funds’ is what the Women’s Guild in Oman (WGO) is about and its Spring Fair recently at the Al Bahja Hall of the Jungle Restaurant. was superb testimony to just that!

This was the first Spring Fair organized by the WGO. The WGO’s Fairs have steadily grown in popularity over the years. This time, there was a packed house with over 80 stalls. The fair had an exciting range of items on sale, from handmade goods to clothes, accessories and baked goods. Popularly considered as the much awaited, one stop shop for buying gifts the fair got rave reviews from the visitors. The Summer and Winter Fairs and the Crystal Ball are among the most popular events
Beginning in 1973 with just 13 women, the WGO now nearly 2000 members of 92 different nationalities, making it a truly international group. With a wealth of different cultures, a wealth of possible friendship and a wealth of talent, the WGO believes in giving back to the community and as such raises funds and donates them to deserving charities in Oman. From a modest start of RO 70 going to charity in the first year of existence, to date the WGO has donated more than RO250,000 to various worthy local causes and looks forward to giving even more in the years to come.

The WGO would like to say a big ‘Thank you’ to all who came. By supporting the event, the visitors have not only got the best quality gifts for friends and family, they have also contributed to the community by helping the WGO raise funds.
