Desert Nights Resort

Desert Nights Resort sits 11km into the Wahiba Sands outside the small town of Al Wasil — about two hours from Muscat. You’ll need a 4WD to get there, though the resort offers a transfer from Al Wasil for those without one. The accommodation is 55 Bedouin-style tents, all with solid walls, air conditioning, en-suite bathrooms, and private terraces — it’s desert camping without the roughing it. A handful of pool villas are available if you want to go further. On arrival, guests are taken up the dunes by 4WD to watch the sunset, which is included in the stay. Activities include camel rides, quad biking, dune bashing and sandboarding. Dinner is a buffet in the open-air restaurant, and the spa is on site if you want something quieter.
