Makan Studios

Makan Studios is an artist-run gallery, workshop space and art boutique on the ground floor of the InterContinental Hotel in Muscat. It was established as part of OMRAN Group’s Creatourism programme and is co-founded by Omani artist Futoon Al Mahrouqi.

The gallery hosts rotating exhibitions by contemporary Omani artists — paintings, prints and photography — with a focus on emerging local talent. Workshops run regularly and have included Omani wheel pottery, Arabic calligraphy, figure drawing and therapeutic writing, among others. The art boutique sells prints and artisan-made goods, making it a good spot for picking up something genuinely local.
